Government Official Confirms Ministry of Defence Investigating Potential Threat from Chinese Cars, as Staff Advised to Refrain from Confidential Discussions in Vehicles.

An defense official has revealed that the Ministry of Defence is actively looking into the potential security risks posed by Chinese cars, and personnel have been instructed to avoid discussing classified information in any vehicles.

Security Advice for Defence Staff

During a recent interview on a radio station, Luke Pollard commented on claims that Ministry of Defence officials have been told not to talk about secret material while riding in Chinese cars.

He explained that the ministry is “looking into” Chinese vehicles within its fleets, however emphasised that security is a issue in all contemporary cars.

We have a collection of tens of thousands of vehicles in the Ministry of Defence and those vehicles represent a very small number.
But regardless of if you’re traveling in a Chinese car or a car from another country, what we’ve asked our people is to avoid connecting MoD technology into their vehicle, not to have discussions at a classified level in any car, because of the increasing risks of eavesdropping that exist in every single automobile, to restrict those secret conversations in secure locations. This is a wise and reasonable thing for anyone concerned about safety.

When it was suggested that it would be wise for the MoD to cease using every Chinese vehicles, Pollard replied: That is precisely what we are looking into at the present time.”

Broader Defence Context

This announcement follows reports from Norway and Denmark have warned the UK to the existence of multi-purpose kill switches in Chinese-made electric buses, which could enable the Chinese government to disable buses and cause disruption to public transit.

Furthermore, a Russia intelligence vessel was reportedly shining laser beams at RAF pilots, labeled a “extremely risky” act by government representatives.

This broader defence situation highlights the importance of strong measures and vigilance in all aspects of official activities, including transport usage to discussions practices.
