Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been earned on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over Frenchman Moutet in the competition championship match.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, winning just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a meltdown at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and struggles with his serving in specific - caused him exiting of the world's top 10 and finally separating with former trainer Cervara.

Now training with his coach and Goetzke, he has gradually improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 win over challenger Corentin Moutet.

It is Medvedev's first title following the 2023 Rome Masters and first on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has achieved 21 victories at twenty-one various tournaments.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children at once, so to get a championship is especially meaningful," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child Victoria, because the initial championship I achieved when my child my daughter was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had been defeated in his previous six finals, including in the German tournament previously this season.

Medvedev's retrieving play style and recurring emotional displays on the playing surface had led commentators to question if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in recent weeks, making an effort to come to the net and perform assertively, supported by an improved service.

Medvedev fought back from a deficit in the first set against the tricky Frenchman, securing 4 of the last five points to take the lead.

The competitors traded breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to force a third set.

Moutet defended 4 early opportunities in a tight final set before the champion broke to that score to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner clinched the title with a rally at the net, with his opponent incapable to handle a volley after a lengthy match.
